"Ted Lasso" is coming back. The show will return for a fourth season, three
years after its last one aired. Two of its biggest stars are coming with
it: Juno Temple and Hannah Waddingham will both reprise their roles.
The show follows an American football coach who takes over a struggling
English soccer club. It became one of the most-loved and most-awarded
comedies of its time during its first three seasons. Temple plays Keeley
Jones, a publicist. Waddingham plays Rebecca Welton, the club's owner.
When season three ended, most fans and critics treated it as the show's
true finale. The story wrapped up its characters' arcs, and the people who
made the show did little to suggest more was coming.
A three-year gap between what looks like a series finale and a surprise
comeback is rare. Usually, once a show goes on hiatus, it gets harder over
time to bring the same cast and crew back together. The fact that both
Temple and Waddingham are returning is a strong sign: this looks like a
real continuation of the original story, not a spinoff wearing the "Ted
Lasso" name.
